CLTs develop rural and urban agriculture projects, commercial spaces to serve local communities, affordable rental and cooperative housing projects, and conserve land or urban green spaces. However, the heart of their work is the creation homes that remain permanently affordable, providing successful homeownership opportunities for generations of lower income families."

The Smoketown Community Land Trust (SCLT) was officially launched on December 2, 2023 at Camp Edwards Community Center in Smoketown! Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg presented the SCLT with a proclamation for being Louisville, KY's 1st Community Land Trust. There are approximately 225 community land trusts in the United States, and we are proud to be Louisville, KYs first!

Out of those long conversations, and the long Saturday retreats. The Smoketown Community Land Trust Board was formed.
